Packing Tips
- Declutter
Before you begin packing, take time to sort through your belongings and try to minimize what you plan to bring to your new home. Organize items into “keep,” “donate,” and “sell” categories. This will help reduce moving costs and save time on moving day. - Gather supplies
Take inventory of the items you plan to bring with you. Are they mostly large pieces, or are you keeping it simple by taking only the essentials? Gather the moving supplies that will best work for you.
- → Pro Tip: If you know you are moving ahead of time, save those Amazon boxes! You can also ask friends and family to save theirs for you.
- Pack your heavy items small and your light items large
This will prevent you from over packing boxes and making them too heavy to move. Don't want your things falling out the bottom of the box!
- → Pro Tip: Towels and clothing can be used in place of bubble wrap. Stuff some socks into a wine glass and wrap the glass in a t-shirt! You can also use towels and clothing to stuff boxes to keep items from shifting.
- Start with the non-essentials
We all have things tucked away in cabinets that we rarely use; pack those first! Make sure you leave out any essentials and personal items you’ll need while between moves. - Pack one room at a time
This will keep things organized and make it easier to unpack! - Go to the local liquor store for free boxes
Liquor boxes have dividers for any fragile glass items you want to move. - Label every box
Label each box clearly so movers can place them in the correct room, for example, Master Bedroom, Living Room, Dining Room, Bedroom, etc.
- → Pro Tip: Mark boxes that need extra care as “Fragile” to help make sure your items arrive safely and in one piece.
FAQs
- Are there any items you are unable to move?
We do not transport alcohol, expensive jewelry, guns and ammunition, or live plants. We ask that the homeowner transport these items themselves. - Do clothes need to be removed from dresser drawers?
No, they can remain inside the drawers. Movers will wrap drawers with commercial grade plastic wrap to keep them from opening and your clothes from spilling out. - What if I need to cancel or reschedule a service?
Just give us a call and we will get you taken care of! - How much can your trailers hold?
We have two trailers that can easily fit a 3-bedroom house. For larger jobs, we will make necessary arrangements to get everything where you need it! - Do I have to be present while you move my belongings?
No, just let us know what you would like to be moved, and we will get it done!
